CTTI为南京大学中国智库研究与评价中心、光明日报智库研究与发布中心联合研发的“中国智库索引”简称。据2020年12月19日召开的“2020新型智库治理暨思想理论传播论坛”发布信息称，国内智库数量窄口径统计在3000家左右，宽口径统计数约为30000家，CTTI目前收录的来源智库为941家，《CTTI智库报告（2019）》根据数据可利用性及准确性原则，选取其中650家智库2017年1月至2019年12月的数据进行测评，按照PAI（产出影响力分值）=0.5×P（Product）+0.3×A（Activities）+0.2×I（Impact）计算得出，从不同领域进行展示，“区域国别研究领域”展示了12家，并对其中的上海外国语大学中东研究所等2家智库进行了重点介绍。以下为该书对上海外国语大学中东研究所的推介原文：
上海外国语大学中东研究所于2000年12月被教育部批准建立为教育部人文社会科学重点研究基地。研究所注重团队建设，逐步建立起具有优势和特色的研究队伍，把应用对策研究与基础研究有机地结合起来，把社会科学课题与人文科学课题结合起来，既与中央有关部委保持经常性联系、沟通，做好咨询服务工作，也推动了具有中国特色的阿拉伯学、伊斯兰学的整体构建。而且，研究所在打好学术基础的同时不断促成成果转化。近三年来，研究所发表了近百篇学术论文，并出版了《伊朗伊斯兰共和国经济现代化研究》《中东热点的冷观察》《世界主要国家安全体制机制研究》等重要学术著作，具备较强的理论研究能力。此外，三年来研究所上报了60余篇内参，积极建言献策，做好决策咨询服务。

Approved by the Ministry of Education to be one of the Key Research Institute of Humanities and social Sciences in Universities by the Ministry of Education in December, 2000, the Middle East Studies Institute of Shanghai International Studies University is the only key institute in this university. Attaching great importance to team building, the institute gradually builds up a research team with advantages and characteristics while combining application measures research with basic research, and social science research with humanities research. It not only maintains regular contact and communication with relevant ministries and commissions of the central government, but also promotes the overall construction of Arabic studies and Islamic studies with Chinese characteristics. In addition, the institute has laid a good academic foundation while continuously promoting achievement transformation. In the past three years, the institute has published nearly a hundred academic papers, as well as important academic works, such as Research on Economic Modernization of Islamic Republic of Iran, Clinical View on the Hot-Button Issues of the Middle East and The Research on the National Security System and Mechanisms of Main Countries in the World. In addition, over the past three years, the institute has submitted more than 60 internal references, actively offering suggestions and providing advisory services for decision-making.
