Israel, Iran trade strikes amid rising tensions, hostilities
Israel and Iran have launched fresh attacks on each other's major cities, with intense exchanges of fire continuing into a third day on Sunday, multiple media outlets reported.
Iran has launched more ballistic missiles toward Israel while Israel attacked several different areas in Tehran, including Niavaran to the north, and around the Valiasr and Hafte Tir squares in the city center, Al Jazeera reported Sunday.
Israeli media has reported that Iranian strikes targeted a power station in Hadera and the Netanyahu family's residence in the coastal town of Caesarea, news outlet Middle East Eye reported.
Iran's spokesperson says, starting tonight, metro stations and mosques will be available as bomb shelters for the public.
Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched late Saturday night a large-scale combined offensive operation against Israel, involving a significant number of missiles and drones, the IRGC's official news outlet Sepah News reported.
Per Al Jazeera on Sunday, the Israeli military says its forces have completed another wave of attacks in western Iran targeting missiles storage and launching infrastructure in the past hour. There was no immediate comment from Iran, it said.
IDF Arabic spokesperson Avichay Andraee warned all residents of Iran on Sunday to move away from areas housing Tehran's weapons production facilities and report to their local authorities, The Jerusalem Post reported on Sunday afternoon. The report highlighted that the warning is the first of its kind to be delivered to Iran, as Andraee has frequently warned civilians to evacuate from areas about to be targeted by Israeli strikes in Lebanon and Gaza.
Israel Defense Forces also claimed to have conducted strikes in Yemen on Saturday night in an attempted targeted attack on senior Houthi military leader, Muhammad Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, IDF sources confirmed to The Jerusalem Post.
Meanwhile, the Houthis group claimed on Sunday that they targeted central Israel's Jaffa with several ballistic missiles in the last 24 hours, military spokesperson Yehya Sarea said in a televised address, Reuters reported on Sunday.
Israel's Operation Rising Lion against Iran is expected to take weeks, not days, CNN reported on Saturday night, citing White House and Israeli officials. The operation is moving forward with implicit US approval, the sources added.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed to Al Jazeera that the next round of Iran-US nuclear negotiations, scheduled for Sunday in Oman, has been cancelled.
The other side [the US] acted in a way that makes dialogue meaningless. You cannot claim to negotiate and at the same time divide work by allowing the Zionist regime [Israel] to target Iran's territory, Iran's Tasnim news agency quoted Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei as saying on Saturday.

Gao Tiankuo, a Chinese student in Iran, told the Global Times on Sunday that despite the tension has been escalating several times since the Palestine-Israel conflict, it was first time that he witnessed in such a direct way conflict between Iran and Israel.
Gao said that despite everyone's concerns, based on my observations on Friday morning in the streets and markets, apart from more patrol police than usual, the smell of exhaust on the streets and the bustling noise of the market crowd reminded me that daily life in Tehran was not greatly affected. However, the anti-aircraft gunfire that night made me worried again, as it was the first time we saw the air defense system operating in central Tehran, Gao said.
On Sunday morning, I went out to observe again, and the black smoke still rising in the western part of the city reminded me of the strikes from the previous night, but most restaurants, banks, and supermarkets were operating normally, traffic was as congested as ever, and the subway was still crowded, Gao said.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Saturday, during which Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China condemns Israel's violation of Iran's sovereignty, security and territorial integrity, and firmly opposes the reckless attacks targeting Iranian officials and causing civilian casualties.
China supports Iran in safeguarding its national sovereignty, defending its legitimate rights and interests, and ensuring the safety of its people, he said.
Wang said China is willing to maintain communication with Iran and other relevant parties to continue playing a constructive role in de-escalating the situation.
Wang also spoke to his Israeli counterpart, Gideon Sa'ar, over the phone on Saturday.
Wang said that China firmly opposes Israel's use of force against Iran in violation of international law.
The immediate priority is to avoid conflict escalation, keep the region from falling into greater turmoil and return to diplomacy for resolving disputes, Wang said.
He added that there is still room for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue as military means cannot deliver lasting peace.
China urged both Israel and Iran to resolve differences through dialogue and seek peaceful coexistence, Wang said, adding that China is willing to play a constructive role in supporting these efforts.

Speaking with the Global Times on Sunday, Liu Zhongmin, a professor at Shanghai International Studies University's Middle East Studies Institute, said that Israel's attack, launched amid recent rounds of Iran's nuclear talks with the US, not only caught Iran off guard but also highlighted Washington's waning influence over Israel, complicating the situation further.
